Welcome to Ask Nata ("we", "our", "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy while creating a safe space for women to share information about their dating experiences. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use the Ask Nata app.
Because Ask Nata operates in the European Union, we follow the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant data-protection laws.
1. Information We Collect
We only collect the minimum information required to operate the app safely and effectively.
1.1 Phone Number Authentication
You create an account using your phone number. We use a one-time passcode (OTP) sent via SMS to verify that you own the number.
When you register or log in, we collect:
- Your phone number
- A one-time verification code (valid for a short period only)
- The timestamp of verification
We store your phone number to maintain your account and link your activity within the app. OTP codes are discarded immediately after use. We do not store SMS message content.
1.2 WhatsApp Phone Numbers (Optional)
You may optionally report or search using a WhatsApp number or phone number. These numbers are stored only so that the app can:
- Match reports
- Detect overlaps
- Notify you if other users have reported interactions with the same number
We do not use phone numbers for marketing or advertising.
1.3 Selfie for Gender Verification
To maintain a women-only safety system, we use AI to verify that a new user is a woman.
During onboarding, you take a one-time selfie using your device camera. The selfie is:
- Captured directly from your camera, the photo library is never accessed
- Sent securely to our AI vision model for analysis
- Used only to determine whether the person appears to be a woman
- Permanently deleted immediately after analysis, never stored on our servers
- Never used to train machine-learning models
- Never shared with third parties
Only a "Verified Woman" status flag is stored on your account. The photo itself is discarded the moment analysis completes.
1.4 Reports and Evidence
When you submit a report about someone, we collect:
- The social handle or phone number you reported
- The content of your report
- Whether you shared evidence
- Whether evidence is private or public
- The timestamp
- Your account ID
You can choose:
- No evidence
- Private evidence (visible only to Ask Nata moderators)
- Public evidence (visible to users)
You may delete your reports at any time, and they are permanently removed from our database.
1.5 Search Activity
When you search for a social profile or phone number, we record:
- The identifier you searched
- Timestamp
- Basic technical logs (e.g., device type)
This helps prevent spam or misuse. Search logs are kept only for a short time.
1.6 Payment Information
For Premium features, payments are processed through Apple App Store and Google Play via RevenueCat. We do not store:
- Credit card numbers
- Billing details
- Any payment instrument data
All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple or Google. RevenueCat manages subscription state on our behalf. Ask Nata never sees or stores your card details.
1.7 Advertising Data (Non-Premium Users)
To support free access, we display ads. Advertisers may receive:
- Device type
- Approximate location (city/region level)
- Ad interaction data
We never share:
- Social usernames
- Phone numbers
- Reports
- Evidence
- Selfies
- Private data
with ad networks.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to:
- Verify you are a real woman user
- Maintain the integrity and safety of the platform
- Allow you to create and manage reports
- Show overlapping matches
- Process payments through Apple App Store / Google Play via RevenueCat
- Display ads to non-premium users
- Prevent fraud or abuse
- Provide customer support
- Improve app features and security
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your identity with the people you report.
3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
Under GDPR, we process your data based on:

We process data required to deliver core app functionality (e.g., account linking).

- Search logs, short-term retention for security
- Payment records, retained according to financial regulations
- Evidence, stored until you delete it or delete the associated report
You may request complete data deletion at any time.
